Kairos Adventure Wilderness Transition Camp - Building Personal Strength

Location

Office Headquarters

Facilities are made up of an 8,000 square foot building (offices/warehouse) in the town of Mount Pleasant, and our nearby transition camp which is comprised of 120 acres bordering the Manti La Sal National Forest (part of the Wasatch Mountain Range). Historical buildings that line Mt. Pleasant's Main Street have changed very little since they were first constructed in the 1800's. While small town charm remains constant, the city continues to grow and progress with time.

Mt. Pleasant is the center of business activities in Sanpete County and forms a natural hub for the communities that surround it. Mt. Pleasant and Sanpete County, Utah, enjoy a pleasant and healthful climate.

Surrounding mountain ranges protect the Sanpete area from extremes. Access to Kairos is made easy by daily flights from major cities to the Salt Lake City International Airport.

Total Estimated Driving Time: 1 hour 55 minutes. Total Estimated Distance: 105.45 miles.

Program Location

Kairos transition facilities are set in a beautiful valley surrounded by majestic mountains, approximately 105 miles south of the Salt Lake International Airport (SLC).

Using the restorative powers of the outdoors, you can securely confront weaknesses, discover and build strengths, and experience daily private victories. Transition camp is where Kairos life begins. When a new student is admitted into Kairos, they are treated with respect similar to a transfer from one high school to another.

Kairos does not operate on level systems and makes no attempt to "break down" students.

With 11,000-ft. Mountains as a backdrop, the Kairos Transition Camp is the perfect setting for students to return home to after each expedition. While students are in transition camp, they engage in a variety of activities that may include:

• completing school assignments
• eating home-cooked type meals
• interacting in group sessions
• participating in performance reviews (treatment team)
• participating in recreational therapy session
• participating in transition camp school
• participating in therapy sessions
• receiving health and hygiene checks
• re-supplying for next week’s expeditions
• taking showers

Out of all the activities in transition camp, students report that their favorite activities are eating home-cooked type meals and getting mail from their families.

The Kairos Transition Camp is home to deer, moose, golden eagles and much other wildlife.
