Kairos operates year-round and application for admission may take place at any time.
Acceptance is based on a review of the student's current and past history of behavior, consultation with parents and professionals, and psycho-educational testing when appropriate.
Appropriate candidates are young adults, ages 18 to 30 years of age, with a history of soft to moderate emotional and behavioral problems, low self-esteem, academic underachievement, substance abuse and family conflict.
Exclusionary Criteria
Kairos was designed to work with students exhibiting soft to moderate behavioral and/or emotional challenges.
As such, our preference is to refer students further along the spectrum to more appropriate placements.
We will carefully evaluate each student in order to ensure that Kairos is the right fit to meet you, and/or your family’s needs.
The following conditions may prevent us from accepting a student:
- Antisocial Personality Disorder
- Extreme Suicide Risk
- History of or tendency toward violence
- Intermittent Explosive Disorder
- Personality Disorders
- Psychosis
- Severe Chronic Depression
- Severe, active eating disorders
- Severe self-mutilation
